• For full time fee-funded trainees, the course fees for 2026/27 will be £9,535 in total for the combined QTS and PGCE programme
• If you decide to opt out of the PGCE the course fees are £9,035
• For trainees on the salaried route, the QTS course fees are paid by the employing school.  The optional PGCE is an additional £500 and the salaried trainee is responsible for meeting the cost.

• For part time trainees the course fees are split over two years. The fees in year one are £7145.00 and in year two the fees are £4,762.00
• The PGCE is not available to trainees on the part time programme

• Self finance: you can fund the tuition fees through private finance. 
• Tuition fee loan: you can apply to Student Finance England (SFE) for a loan to cover your course fees up to a maximum of £9,535.  You will need to meet the eligibility requirements for the loan, which are explained on the website https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/who-qualifies 
• Salaried PGCE fees: Trainees on the salaried route are not eligible for any student loans. Therefore, should they opt to take the PGCE uplift this will need to be self-funded.

'High demand' secondary subjects attract a bursary or scholarship which trainees can apply for. Availability is dependent on the highest relevant academic award and the ITT subject. To receive a bursary or scholarship, with the exception of Physics and MFL applicants, trainees will need to be entitled to support under the Student Finance England criteria as either a home or EU student in order to meet the eligibility critiera for the bursary. Applicants with a degree from outside the UK will need to check their eligibility for a bursary. Get into Teaching will also provide guidance on equivalent qualifications.. The amount you will be paid on the salaried route will depend on the location of your employing school. The figures below are correct for 2025/26 but are subject to change on an annual basis.
