Laura Martin

Teacher Training Deputy Leader

Laura's previous roles, as an Assistant and Deputy Headteacher, focused on teaching and learning, Maths, ECTs and coaching with a range of colleagues where she discovered a particular passion for teacher development. As a result, she worked closely with ECTs in her previous school and facilitated the ECT programme in Brighton and Hove.

She has always worked in primary schools with high levels of disadvantaged families and has focused on improved pupil outcomes through teacher professional development. Her work with the Maths Hub has taken her into many schools and helped to implement change in a variety of settings. She says it is always fascinating to explore how different settings can develop to support their pupils.

Laura has been inspired by many wonderful colleagues and peers, whilst working to embed evidence-informed practice to aid school improvement. Working collaboratively has been instrumental in her career and she is excited to be working with colleagues at DMAT and South Downs Teacher Training to inspire a new wave of teachers dedicated to improving pupil outcomes.
